This website is run by REPLACE-WITH-MATTS-FULL-LEGAL-NAME, trading as Matt’s Painting, Decorating & Tiling Services, a sole trader working from Lenwade, Norwich, Norfolk. He is the data controller for the personal information described on this page.

Cookies

This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. No Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no embedded video or social widgets that track you. The only thing stored in your browser is the choice you make on the cookie banner itself — Accept or Necessary only — saved locally on your own device so the banner does not ask again. That choice never leaves your device and is not sent to us.

If that ever changes — for example, if analytics or a booking tool is added in future — this page and the cookie banner will be updated first, and you will be asked for consent before anything new runs.

Server logs

Like most websites, the server this site runs on automatically records basic technical information for every visit — your IP address, browser type and the pages requested — in a standard access log. This is kept only to keep the site secure and running, is not used to identify individual visitors, and is not shared with anyone else.

Phone and email

The phone number and email address on this site open your own phone or email app — nothing about that click is recorded by this website. If you then ring or email Matt directly, whatever you tell him (your name, number, address, details of the job) is used only to give you a quote and do the work, is not passed to any third party, and is not kept for longer than is reasonably needed for that purpose. Ask at any time and he will tell you what he holds about you, correct it, or delete it.

Why Matt can hold it, and for how long

UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for holding personal information. Where you have asked for a quote, or where Matt is carrying out work for you, the basis is performance of a contract — he cannot price or do the job without knowing who you are and where you live. Where an enquiry does not turn into work, the basis is legitimate interests: keeping a short record of who asked about what, so that a later call makes sense.

Quotes that do not turn into work are deleted within 12 months. Records of completed work — the quote, the invoice and what was done — are kept for six years, because tax law requires business records to be retained that long and because a guarantee or a query can arise well after the job is finished. Nothing is kept for longer than that.

Your information is not sold, rented, or passed to anyone for marketing. It is shared only where Matt has to — for example with his accountant, or with HMRC.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, have it corrected if it is wrong, have it deleted, and object to how it is used. To use any of these rights, contact Matt using the details above.

If you are unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office, at ico.org.uk.
